Feeling burnt out?
3 surprising things to consider
As we are approaching the hottest days of the summer, it's easy to feel burnt out - physically and emotionally.
I've put together a quick list, just for you, of things that may be contributing to feeling burnt out, overworked, and fatigued.
1. Your adrenals may be out of balance
Your adrenals are glands, meaning that they make hormones. Adrenals are located in your low back, on either side, just below the ribcage. So, if you have pain there, there is a chance your adrenals are working too hard. Likewise, if you feel stressed a lot, chances are that you are holding that stress in your body.
2. Your blood sugar is low
Guess what? If we aren't eating every 2-3 hours, our blood sugar can drop significantly. If we wait the traditional lengthy period between meals, it doesn't make you skinnier. Why not?
Because here's what happens. When you don't have sugar in your body, your body will produce something to live off of. Guess what? That's cortisol and adrenaline. Which means, more feelings of long-term stress, and potential feelings of depression. Not fun.
3. You're dehydrated
Many studies are linking dehydration to depression now. Dr Batmagehlidj, MD, gives the analogy to grass. What happens when grass doesn't have its water? It begins to dry out and turn brown. Our brains are 85% water, so when we're not getting the proper amount of water we need each day - of course we can feel off.
So, you see, feeling overworked or depressed doesn't necessarily mean there's a chemical imbalance going on in within the brain. It could mean something else. Talk to your doctor, naturopath, or ayurvedic practitioner to see what's best for you and what could be causing these feelings.
Now, I'd love to hear from you! Do you ever feel like you're giving too much, exhausted, or burnt out? What have you tried that's worked?
Wishing you all the best, and many blessings,
Katherine
